My first homework assignment is to write about a time when I was "my best self".  The moments that come to mind are when I have been forced, by circumstances beyond my control, to bring all of myself to the table.  Some examples would be when my family has had an unexpected diagnosis, health emergency or accident.  These are times in which I have tried to rise to the occassion and be my best self.

I believe the moment I am looking for, though, is right now.  By signing up for these classes, I have decided to do something for me. In the midst of our crazy life I have begun the process of making a change for myself.  For me, three daughters, a husband, many schedules and being gone four days a week would normally be huge obstacles, but I realized something in the last few months.

I ask my daughters to take chances, live passionately and be the best they can be everyday.  As a parent, I want to lead by example and show my daughters that it's never too late to do what you want to do!  If we wait until life settles down or for "the perfect time", we will never do it.  I love my girls and I have loved being home with them, but I wasn't doing what I was asking them to do.

So, being in the class on Monday, in the car, in a ski resort parking lot while my daughter was on the race course was me being my "best self".
